  1. My husband gave me a “Heart Shaped Box” with the lyrics to our favourite Nirvana song “Heart Shaped Box” written inside for our first Valentine’s was actually a recreation of a box he made me at school….20 years earlier!

  2. My NOW fiancé had planned to propose to me on a holiday in Rome (I had no idea). He took me up to a place called Gianicolo Hill, I moaned all the way there as my feet were hurting having walked around the vatican all morning. He had researched the place and it had a beautiful fountain and supposedly a fabulous view of Rome – however when we got there, there was a road in front of the fountain and the view was spoilt by ugly roof tops. He did not propose.

When we got back to the hotel later that day he told me to go in the shower and he would speak to the reception about where to go for tea. In actual fact it was to ask where else he could propose in Rome.

The next day he took me to a place called Villa Borghese Gardens, which was lovely and had the most amazing view of Rome and below was the Piazza del Popolo (a lovely square with a beautiful fountain). This time we travelled by segway to stop me moaning. He proceeded to tell me how much he loved me and got down on one knee producing the most beautiful diamond engagement ring. Needless to say I said YES!

  3. My Fiancé and I are childhood sweethearts and have been together since we were 14 and 15. When we were 10 my best friend was his neighbour. All the girls fancied him and we would always speak about him. At her party there was lots of people and I was very shy so didn’t speak to my now fiancé. However we both can recall seeing each other even to the point we can remember what each other were wearing! Although we went to different schools 4 years later we met up and have been together ever since, 8 long years. It was as if fate brought us together. We have been through so much together and I think our little story is romantic in its own special way xx

  4. My now fiancé and I were in Paris on holiday and had booked a number of things to do. On the second day there we had a very busy day starting off at the markets along the Seine for breakfast, walking then to the Moulin rouge and having lunch in Amelie’s café. We then walked up to the Sacre Coer and because it was so busy up there, we decided not to stay long. What I didn’t know was my now fiancé was going to propose up there and missed the opportunity. So we went and had tea in the Luxembourg gardens and he mentioned about going up the Eiffle tower. None of this was planned as I had previously said I was not particularly bothered going up. Anyway he managed to convince me, and by this time it was late afternoon so the sun was going down by the time we were on the Eiffel tower. We took some lovely photos and it hit 7 o’clock when the sun had gone down and the light show started (this is when the Eiffel tower sparkles like diamonds. Everyone looked up to see the show including me, and my now fiancé went down on one knee and proposed right then. It was so romantic like out of an old movie, and I am such an Audrey Hepburn fan. I was not expecting a thing as we had only been together two years, but it was the best night of my life (and yes I did cry a little). The End.

  5. My husband to be and I have been the best of friends since we were 11 years old and went to secondary school! He even witnessed my first kiss through the window of the English classroom! We went all through secondary school being great friends and then even ventured to the same university and lived on the same campus! A year after graduation on a drunken night out, we kissed and from that day forward we never looked back! We’ve been together for almost 6 years and last summer he took me on a surprise picnic to our favourite beach back home that we used to go to regularly during the summer we got together and proposed to me with a haribo ring!we both now can’t wait to be husband and wife and enjoy a wonderful winter wedding on the 19th december this year x

  6. My fiancée took me on a surprise holiday to Disney Land Paris for our 2 years anniversary! He woke me up, told me to pack my suitcase for a holiday he had booked but didn’t tell me where! A few days into the holiday we went to see the firework display that is held every night! Before the show began they made announcement, saying that Adil would like to ask a special someone a question, as I told round my now fiancée was down on one knee with a gorgeous ring in his hand! As I said my answer the firework show began, it was a very special night one I will not forget!!

  7. My romantic story isn’t about a proposal. I’d been depressed for a long time feeling I wanted to shut myself off from the world. My boyfriend (now fiancée) turned up that night with a beautiful Persian kitten in his coat, despite him hating cats, knowing how much comfort and happiness it would give me. Three years later we’re getting married soon, my health is better and Chewy the cat is going strong. My man still puts my happiness above all else which is on of the many reasons I love him.

  8. In February my fiance and I were due to go to New York for my birthday but unfortunately my mother in law to be passed away. A month later he booked a night in a 5 star hotel in Bath and was planning to propose to me in Prior Park but a week before I had just woken up after a night shift. I was Sat on the sofa in my pj’s with a cup of tea and awful bed hair waiting to watch a tv programme we had on record. He was faffing around and I was telling him to hurry up when he got down on one knee and proposed. He had previously done it a couple of times messing around so I thought that’s what he was doing, said ‘yes of course’ and told him to get up so we could watch tv. He had to say ‘for real’ several times before I realised it was ‘ for real’. He said in that moment it just felt right, in the home we build together and couldn’t wait.
