Real-life bride Charlotte Lloyd wanted to surprise her fiancé with a sexy wedding gift, so she booked herself in for a flattering boudoir photoshoot with the girls at For Your Eyes Only Portraits! Here’s how her day went…
I knew that I’d found the perfect wedding gift for my soon-to-be husband when I found FYEO. My fiancé has always wanted me to pose for him, but I had always resisted for fear that the photos wouldn’t be flattering. I wanted to surprise him with a gift I knew he would love and never expect, so I knew my professional ‘boudoir bride’ portraits would be the perfect wedding gift for him. I’d heard great reviews about the FYEO girls and trusted that they would make me look good in their ‘body-sculpting, skin smoothing’ studio. I really liked their all-female team ethos and the fact that my photographer would be a woman – so I booked it!
I arrived for my photo shoot in the Covent Garden FYEO studio feeling rather nervous. I’m normally a very shy person, so this photo shoot was way out of my comfort zone. Added to these nerves was the fact that I usually hate photos of myself and felt really worried that I wouldn’t look as good as the girls on the FYEO website. I felt 100% sure I wouldn’t be taking my underwear off for any photos! However, the atmosphere in the studio was completely relaxed and the FYEO girls made me feel very comfortable.
From the moment I met my photographer Claire, I felt at ease straight away. Her excitement was infectious and after a few minutes I couldn’t wait to get going! It was really nice having my make-up done by a professional make-up artist before the shoot – I loved the smokey eyes she gave me. After my makeover, it was time to get started in the studio. I showed Claire my collection of underwear, shoes and wedding jewellery and she helped me by deciding which outfit for the first pose — a black bra and knickers, with my wedding veil and shoes to accessorise.
Claire led me through the photo shoot perfectly – the tempo and costume changes flowed really well. Some of the positions she directed me into felt a little like I was being a contortionist, but she reassured me that I looked great the whole time. We worked our way through my selection of underwear, plus I had brought my fiancé’s shirt and tie, which I wore in a most unusual way!The shoot was relaxed and comfortable and at no point did I feel self-conscious or shy – I even had the confidence to do some naked shots! The dark studio helped it to not feel awkward or embarrassing in any way.
The end of my boudoir photo shoot came around really quickly. We must have been having fun as we were in the studio for nearly two hours! The whole experience was amazing. Claire is a such star photographer, making me feel very comfortable and reassuring me the whole way through.
My FYEO boudoir photos turned out to be better than incredible. I chose my top ten favourite photos from the shoot to go into my Groom’s Gift Box. The Gift Box was lovely – black with ribbon that read ‘For Your Eyes Only’. Opening his gift on our wedding night, my man was utterly speechless, hugging me and crying. He said that he loved the pictures and that they were the best present he’d ever been given!
My husband and I want to say a massive thank you to the FYEO girls. We now have some beautiful photos from such a happy time to treasure for a lifetime! They will give us pleasure for many years to come.
Thanks too, for giving women like myself a boost of confidence in ourselves that others try so hard to take away. I have a new perspective on my body image and it’s now one I am very proud of. Thank you FYEO!
