After surveying 13,000 people across the UK, chillisauce.co.uk has revealed the results of what you all really think about ‘the most romantic day of the year’ – Valentine’s Day.
With Valentine’s just a few days away, let’s have a look at what their results tell us…
Popping the question
Remember Chillisauce’s marriage proposal story? Well, Valentine’s Day was a near winner for the most popular time to propose, close to Christmas Eve and the anniversary of the day you met.
22% of all females in the 7,000 questioned for this survey said this was the best time for their partner to make a proposal, with 14% of the men agreeing with this.
Will you be my Valentine?
Chillisauce found that more than two-thirds (68%) of single men have never asked someone to be their Valentine – can you believe that!
Given that restaurants are always full on Valentine’s Day, the conclusion is that either women are being more proactive and asking the men themselves, or that the February 14th holiday is losing its romantic appeal as time goes on…
From your secret admirer
So it looks like a Valentine’s card isn’t the favourite way to seal the deal and getting your Valentine on a date – in fact, it’s the least preferred method!
Gone are the days of cards or letters signed from ‘Your secret admirer’, as technology – texts, tweets and instant messaging – wins, taken up by almost 50% of the men surveyed. Followed by asking through a friend or colleague at 29%, then 15% for the braver face-to-face approach.
Your ideal Valentine’s Day gift
As part of their survey, Chillisauce also asked the women and men of the UK what their ideal V-day gift would be. The clear winner was a holiday with 27%, then 17% wanting to see a new car in their driveway and 15% wanting the relaxation of a spa treatment.
What’s the point of Valentine’s Day?
Chillisauce asked men and women what say thought the point of Valentine’s Day was, and we’re happy to see a clear winner for both sexes!
