The Royal T’s

Looking to book your wedding entertainment? At Last Minute Musicians, we know a thing or two about how to hire live wedding bands, so here are our top picks of the sort of acts that will make your night an unforgettable party!

Jazz quartet

Want to bring a touch of class to your wedding? Nothing says sophistication more than a jazz band over cocktails! Jazz quartets come in all sorts of line ups, with lots of variation in instrumentation and repertoire, so always make sure you know what you’re looking for and listen to audio examples or watch video.

Expect to hear: Jazz standards like Fly Me To The Moon, Autumn Leaves and Take 5.

Folk Band

Festival-style weddings or “WedFests” have been particularly popular this year. This usually involves an outdoor setting, roaring fires, a huge hog roast and, of course, lots of live music! If you’re looking to bring a touch of that Glastonbury magic to your big day, consider a foot-stompin’ Folk band for a Mumford-esque sing along!

Expect to hear: Modern pop in a folk style, as well as traditional “Jigs and Reels”.

Rock/Pop Wedding Band

A classic choice… for a reason! Traditional rock/pop bands usually play a variety of your favourite hits, from 1960s right up to present day chart and indie rock anthems. Wedding bands will usually play two sets of around 45 minutes, but this differs from band to band and there will usually be several options for you to choose from. Remember, if you are looking to make any requests (such as your first dance) make sure you speak to the band well in advance to allow for adequate time for rehearsal.

Expect to hear: A little bit of everything, from The Beatles and Chuck Berry to The Kaiser Chiefs and The Arctic Monkeys.

Acoustic Duo

Acoustic duos (as well as being a great choice in their own right!) are particularly useful in a lot of scenarios where a full band would not be practical. For example, acoustic duos have much more control over their volume levels and so are much better suited to venues with sound restrictions or sound limiters. They are also much more compact than a full band, and so any venue where space is an issue would benefit from the reduced set up. Don’t be fooled though – while they might be smaller in size, acoustic bands can still get your party up and dancing!

Expect to hear: Modern and classic pop played in a stripped back “live lounge” style.
