Emma and Tim met online, only to realise that they lived just a few streets away from each other, which is when love blossomed for the couple…
The proposal
In October 2011 they enjoyed their relaxed and intimate first date at a local wine bar and Italian restaurant – the same restaurant Tim chose for his romantic proposal. “I was totally shocked as I was five months pregnant at the time and hadn’t been the nicest of girlfriends as my hormones were all over the place!” laughs Emma. “Tim isn’t usually romantic, so I’m so proud of him for coming up with such a perfect way of doing it.”
The bride’s outfit
Emma looked stunning in her strapless ivory Ella Rosa dress. The gown had intricate crystal beaded flowers on the waist and a medium train at the back. “I loved how unique it was,” smiles Emma. “It had been used for a fashion show, so it was reduced to £450. Total bargain!” She accessorised with a detailed tiara from Girls of Elegance as well as a veil and shoes from Rainbow Club. Her nan also bought her some pearl jewellery and a friend leant her a pearl Thomas Sabo bracelet as her ‘something borrowed’.
The groom’s outfit
Tim knew he didn’t want anything too over the top for him and his groomsmen so he ended up buying a suit in Matalan with cravats and waistcoats from MyTuxedo. “He looked absolutely amazing,” says Emma.
The ceremony
The Christian service took place at St John’s church in the little village of Holdenhurst and included three readings – On Your Wedding Day, 1 Corinthians 13 and an extract from The Velveteen Rabbit.
The reception
As the wedding took place on Valentine’s Day, the couple decided on a romantic theme. “I’m a wedding planner so I knew what I wanted for our day,” says Emma. “I knew I didn’t want red, and in the end we settled on a sweetheart theme with a colour scheme of pale pink, ivory and pearl.”
The couple put together signs around the venue, filled jars and vases with pink and white sweets and finished it all off with some fairy lights. They also hired a wishing tree for messages to be hung onto during the reception.
The honeymoon
A week after the wedding Emma and Tim took their kids on a family minimoon to Disneyland and booked to go to Ibiza in May.
