Research your stylists

Find out hairdressers that specialise or have experience in wedding hair as some hairdressers don’t know how to put up hair or fix on tiaras and other hair accessories.

Book a consultation

Make sure you have a bridal hair consultation first, as wedding hair trials can take up time and money so it’s best for the hair stylist to see your hair before so they can get to know the texture and length.

Always go for your hair trial with washed hair, preferably with no conditioner as this will save time and the hair won’t be so soft. If it’s too soft it will be harder to keep in place.

Make time for your hair

If you have fine hair, always make sure you have enough time on the day as your hairdresser will need to add body in the hair first using heated rollers or hair pieces.

De-frizz the curls

If you have frizzy or really curly hair then be aware that if the hairdresser has not used the correct de-frizz products or blow dried well enough then you might frizz up on the day.

The right accessory for your hair type

If you have finer hair make sure the tiara, head band or hair accessory that your going to use is easy to fix on. Some bridal hair accessories are too heavy for some hair textures.

Back combing

Make sure there is enough back combing in the crown of your wedding hair so that the veil can grip onto your hair. If there is no backcombing the veil will just slip off.

Plenty of product

Ensure that the hairdresser puts plenty of product on before as waves and curls tend to start dropping out before you get to the ceremony.

Keep a tight grip

If you have extra long hair and want it curled, you can use hair grips for each curl and wait until just before you go to the ceremony and this will hold the curl better.

Pictures of the dress

Bring pictures of your dress along to the consultation and any hair accessories you are thinking of as this will give the hairdresser a better idea of what to choose for your hair style for the big day.
