This weekend we’ve got a very special blog from Jo Hoare, Style Editor at Heat magazine. She’ll be chatting about how her wedding gift ideas and she went about choosing wedding favours.

Now, over to Jo!

Now I have a confession to make, my name is Jo Hoare and until I started planning my wedding I had no idea what a ‘favour’ was…

Friends whose weddings I have attended I do apologise, all those intricately wrapped boxes of fudge I’ve consumed, those sugared almonds I’ve picked the coating off, the sparkly flip flops I’ve left in a cab at the end of the night, who knew these wedding gifts had a proper name and function? Not me!

So now I know that a favour isn’t just picking a mate up from the train station or offering to feed their cat whilst they’re away what the hell am I going to do about mine? Having planned my tables to be simple and chic I was reluctant for anything to spoil the clean lines so be-ribboned boxes were  a no no. I was considering being a favour free zone until I remembered going to a celeb party (Will Young’s if I’m name dropping) and there being an amazing photobooth which you and your slightly tipsy mates could pile in and take all manner of hilarious pictures and have them as a handy reminder of just how much wine was consumed the morning after.

Photobooth fun

With this in mind I consulted the experts at Wedding Ideas mag who recommended the wonderful groovybooth  having looked around nearly every photobooth site online I chose these because you get two copies of the pictures, one for your friends who took the pic, one for you, because they were super accommodating with our venue and unlike most companies they provide an attendant to man the booth meaning your queue won’t get too out of control and hopefully they’ll be minimum bottom/genital shots…a little birdie also told me they’ve been booked for the Cannes film festival meaning I’ll very likely be sitting on the same stool as Angelina Jolie.

At each person’s place setting I’m then going to put a small photoframe with their name in – I ordered mine from aweddinglessordinary – that they can then slot their fave photobooth snap in. Now that’s got to be more fun than sugared almonds?
