With these fab wedding beauty tips you can look your best on your wedding day whatever your age.

In your 20s…

Other than the occasional breakout and perhaps the beginning of some sun damage, during your twenties your skin will be pretty easy to care for, as long as you follow a proper daily regime of cleansing and moisturising. A weekly treatment mask to tackle oiliness, dryness or dullness is a good idea, as is regular gentle exfoliation to prevent a build-up of dead skin cells and keep skin glowing and fresh. But if you want to hang on to your youthful complexion, this is the time to protect, so a daily sunscreen is essential. The skin on your neck and hands will age at least as fast as the skin on your face, so continue products down over the neck and on to the chest.

For skin to stay soft and supple throughout your thirties, be sure to keep it hydrated during the day and night, paying particular attention to the eye and lip areas that may be showing signs of ageing. Products containing retinol will help to improve the texture and tone of the skin, while moisturisers with anti-oxidants like vitamins C and E will fight free radicals to help maintain younger-looking skin. Switching from a foaming cleanser to an oil-based formula should help to combat dry zones and, of course, continuing to use sunscreen is important if sun damage is to be avoided.

In your 40s…

Declining levels of oestrogen in your forties can leave skin dry, so you’ll need a daily cleansing regime using a non-foaming, formula followed by a hydrating serum and moisturiser. If things are starting to sag, give it a boost with products containing collagen-rebuilding peptides. Swap a scrub for a soft muslin cloth that will remove dead cells without scratching or dragging the skin.

50s and beyond…

From the age of 50, skin becomes thinner and more fragile with sagging and loss of tone becoming the key issues. An intensive moisturiser containing hyaluronic acid and glycerine will help to hydrate. Products from cleansers to treatment serums containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) will work to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and keep skin more smoothly textured. If hormonal changes added to the stress of organising a wedding and have led to acne resurfacing, invest in products that contain salicylic acid that will gently tackle the problem without stripping or drying the skin.
