Claire and Mark chose a warm colour scheme of navy and orange for their seaside wedding, complete with beachy and homemade touches…

How they met

Claire was introduced to Mark by her cousin Matthew – Mark’s long-standing best friend. “On a cold wintry night I decided to pop to the local pub to see my cousin, and Mark was there, too,” Claire remembers. “Mark was such a gentleman and looked after me all night. Five years later, we haven’t had a single argument!”

The proposal

Mark proposed to Claire while on holiday in Cornwall. “When we checked into our hotel room, I opened the patio doors to admire the ocean view, and when I turned round I discovered Mark down on one knee,” Claire smiles. “I burst into tears and said yes! We celebrated by spending the rest of the day relaxing in the spa and drinking delicious champagne.”

Claire looked sensational in a Maggie Sottero fit-and-flare gown with a balloon hem. “I tried on at least 10 dresses, but none were right,” Claire says. “When I found my dress it felt amazing, and I couldn’t wait to show it to Mark at the end of the aisle.”

The groom’s outfit

Mark wore a navy blue two-piece suit from Next, teamed with orange knot cufflinks and a navy and orange tie from TM Lewin.

The bridesmaids

Mark earned brownie points by finding the perfect dresses for the six bridesmaids in Dorothy Perkins for just £20 each! “We were out shopping when Mark spotted the dress in green, and commented on how lovely it would look in navy blue,” Claire says. “Luckily, it also came in blue, and I bought all six dresses there and then!”

The ceremony

Claire and Mark were married in a civil ceremony. “When I found our venue and saw its floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sea, I knew it was the place to say our vows,” Claire explains.

The reception

The couple themed their reception around a burnt orange and navy blue colour palette, with seaside echoes including driftwood and shells. “It was a DIY wedding, with homemade signs, bunting, twine-wrapped jars of orange dahlias and a sweetie table,” Claire says.

The honeymoon

Claire and Mark splashed out on a dream honeymoon to not one, but three destinations – Tanzania, Mauritius and Dubai.
