School sweethearts Leanne and Georgie celebrated their big day in style with a yacht wedding in Cyprus, courtesy of Exclusive Yacht Weddings!
How they met
Bride Leanne first met her future husband Georgie at school, where he was in the year above her. Although the couple had always been friends, Leanne admits she had always secretly liked Georgie! After finding out that he felt the same way, the couple got together when they were 16, enjoying their first date at the cinema and with TGI Fridays dinner to follow. “And the rest is history, as they say!” Leanne smiles.
The proposal
Just after moving into their first house together, Georgie popped the question over a romantic dinner on Christmas Eve. “It was amazing – the best Christmas present ever!” says Leanne. The couple then got to enjoy the rest of the Christmas holidays celebrating with family and friends.
The bride’s outfit
Leanne struggled to find the right wedding dress; she tried lots of styles, but none of them were ‘the one’. A friend then recommended Teresa at Polka Fashions, based in Essex, to help Leanne design and create her perfect lightweight dress for Cyprus. “I felt a million dollars in my dress, it really did make me feel like a princess”, recalls Leanne. The bride kept her accessories simple, with small jewels through her hair and matching jewelled sandals to create a glamorous summery look.
The groom’s outfit
Georgie and his groomsmen looked super smart in their navy, slim-fit suits from Next. Georgie chose a suit trousers and waistcoat combo to save him and his best men from overheating in jackets on the day. “He looked very, very handsome and smart,” Leanne says happily.
The bridesmaids
The four bridesmaids also had their dresses made by Teresa. Cut in a glamorous champagne shade, complete with a diamante detail just under the bust, the bridesmaids’ dresses complemented the bride and her dress beautifully.
The ceremony
From Leanne walking down the aisle with her dad and step-dad in each arm, to them both turning around at the end to see family and friends, Leanne and Georgie loved their ceremony on board a luxury yacht from start to finish. “While we were saying our vows, I was completely wrapped up in the moment,” says Leanne. “I didn’t realise everyone was crying until we had turned around, and then I got really choked up!”
The flowers
The couple’s stunning wedding flowers were put together by an expert florist, who was included as part of their Exclusive Yacht Wedding package. Leanne decided on a beautiful combination of pink gerberas and cream roses to match her hot pink wedding theme, and had the yacht decorated with balloons and ribbons, which were also part of the all-inclusive package!
The reception
The reception was also held on the yacht, where the guests enjoyed a delicious buffet-style dinner before dancing the night away with the help of a DJ. Georgie’s two best men had everyone laughing with their speeches, and entertained everyone with an embarrassing photo of the groom taken on the stag do.
The details
“Our favours were ‘Just Married’ rock sweets, and Love Hearts,” explains Leanne. The couple even had their rock sweets decorated with personalised stickers, which made them the perfect souvenir for their guests to take home!
The honeymoon
The couple enjoyed two weeks in Mexico for their honeymoon. “We literally spent the two week relaxing”, says Leanne – sounds perfect to us! Staying at the Riu Peninsular in Cancun, they soaked up the sun and the scenery as newlyweds.
