The sun shone on Victoria and Darren’s super pretty vintage wedding day in Surrey, full of flowers, vintage touches, and even an ice cream truck!
The proposal
Darren splashed out on a trip to New York as a birthday gift for Victoria. “I’d always wanted to go to the Thanksgiving Day parade, so we got up really early to watch it and then went to the Central Park boathouse for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner,” Victoria remembers. “After our main course, Darren asked the waiter to take a photo of us, but just as I was posing I looked around and Darren was down on one knee with a ring in his hand. The waiter caught the whole thing on camera!”
The bride’s outfit
Victoria chose a beautiful Intuzuri fishtail gown with subtle sequin embellishments and lace off-the-shoulder sleeves. “I had narrowed my search down to two other dresses, but couldn’t decide,” Victoria explains. “The shop assistant suggested trying the Intuzuri gown and when I looked at myself in the mirror I felt all emotional – I knew it was ‘the one’.” The bride finished her look with a vintage-inspired side tiara by Daisy Day and her grandmother’s pearls – her ‘something borrowed’.
The groom’s outfit
Darren wore a navy blue morning suit from Moss Bros with an ivory cravat and his great-grandfather’s pocket watch. “I’m a funeral director so I couldn’t bear the thought of him wearing black!” Victoria laughs. “I’d never seen Darren in morning dress before, and although I helped him choose the suit, I couldn’t get over how smart and handsome he looked.”
The bridesmaids
Victoria’s four bridesmaids wore duck egg blue one-shoulder dresses from Fever London with ivory slingback shoes from Debenhams. The three little flowergirls were dressed in ivory gowns from Monsoon.
The ceremony
Victoria and Darren tied the knot at St Mary’s Church in Walton on Thames. “My grandad walked me down the aisle, which was a lovely moment for both of us,” Victoria says. “Two of our close friends also sang for us, which was very moving.”
The reception
The couple chose a classically elegant theme with vintage touches and beautiful floral arrangements. “We had a wonderful New York-themed table plan hand-painted by our friend Rachel B Stevens, who also made the signs for our guestbook, sweetie bar and gifts table,” Victoria says. “Our amazing wedding cake was made by my aunty Anna as a present to us, and when I saw it, it literally took my breath away.” The couple also treated their guests to ice creams from a vintage ice cream van.
The honeymoon
The newlyweds enjoyed an action-packed honeymoon in sunny Thailand, where they went zip-wiring in the rainforest, trekking on elephants and visited a tiger sanctuary.
