Dreaming of a heavenly honeymoon or exchanging your vows in the sand? Let the travel experts Thomson Weddings, the newest sponsor in the Wedding Ideas Awards 2014, take care of everything for you…
Who are you?
Thomson Weddings have been organising weddings abroad for almost 20 years so you know they have the experience to make your day stress free and unique. Offering ceremonies in over 16 countries around the world, all of their weddings are ATOL protected, which means you can be sure your hard-earned money is safe. They also boast in-resort wedding co-ordinators who will work with the couple to create their perfect day overseas.
Which category are you sponsoring?
Best Special Touches. There is a perception that all weddings abroad have to be the same and we’re trying to break that cookie-cutter image. Every Thomson wedding is unique and it’s often the little finishing touches that help make it so.
What’s great about the Wedding Ideas Awards?
These awards are not only recognised by the readers, as they play an active part in the voting process, but also by other professionals in the industry. By winning an award, it gives a strong recommendation to your brand and company, and allows readers to recognise those winners in the future.
What are your company’s plans for 2014?
We have 43 Superstores up and down the country, and each one of these stores holds a wedding event every year, usually in April. This is a great way to find out more about our products and destination weddings, and to register interest in getting advance previews of booking for the following summer.
We have introduced three new destinations for weddings for 2014 and these are already flying off the shelves. As well as Puerto Vallarta in Mexico, we now offer weddings in Croatia and Mauritius. We will also continue to promote our Bride and Groom Incentive, which offers gifts to our customers to reward them for friends and family travelling with them to their wedding abroad. None of our competitors offer anything similar, and it’s a great way of customers enhancing their experience for free!
What are your top three wedding planning tips?
Take away the stress
Getting married abroad really does take all the stress away from all those seating plan stresses and invite worries. It allows you to only invite your nearest and dearest. So if this is something that interests you, I really would consider a destination wedding.
Prioritise what’s important
Think about what is really important to you as a couple. The day should be about you two, and your love and commitment for one another, so if he likes lemon cake then consider it, or if you want to toast with vodka instead of Champagne – do it! Do what makes you happy, you will not regret it.
Whilst you can’t guarantee the weather on a destination wedding, it’s fairly likely you have more chance of sun than you do here in the UK. Fans or parasols not only protect you from the sun, but make great favours for your wedding guests.
