A romantic wedding for the beautiful Ricarda and Erik, with a gorgeous boho theme!
Ricarda and Erik met back in 2009 on a dance floor in Kuala Lumpur, at three in the morning! He was there for work while she had been living there for one and a half years… this bride looked into his dreamy brown eyes and thought, ‘what a gorgeous man!’ New Year’s Day five years later in Berlin was the perfect setting for Erik to propose – they later even found out that it was where Ricarda’s parents had got engaged – the exact same day and location – just 48 years before!
Ricarda wanted a long gown, preferably ivory coloured, something to fit the bohemian-chic wedding theme that she wanted. When trying on ‘the dress’ in Eternal Bridal in Sydney, this beautiful bride instantly fell for it and its various layers of French lace. Accessories were kept simple, a beautiful veil and flower crown was all this bride needed – the flower crown was even made from fresh flowers! Ricarda switched her dress for the evening into a Chanel-style gown that her bridesmaid Laura ordered from Pronovias in Spain.
She had five bridesmaids, but only four could attend because one of them – Laura – was due to give birth! They all wore dresses from US-based designer Joanna August and looked absolutely stunning! When it came to accessories, Ricarda let her bridesmaids have their own style, adding fresh white flowers in their hair as a pretty finishing touch.
The wedding breakfast menu was a feast for the guests’ taste buds – a BBQ which included an Indonesian mix of spicy seafood, grilled meats and vegetables. Perfect for the beautiful wedding day setting in Bali!
The speeches were heartfelt and thoughtful, with Erik’s father even translating his into three different languages to accommodate all their guests! The theme this couple went for was inspired by Kate Moss’ garden wedding – the colour scheme was pastel with lots of flowers here and there. With the help of wedding planner Donna Joseph this day was really brought to life, “She was the glue to our fairytale,” says Ricarda.
Entertainment was provided by live singer Raissa Mea, a good friend of the couple – she sang Lana Del Rey’s Young and Beautiful as Ricarda walked down the aisle, too. Guests enjoyed a raspberry wedding cake with white sugar frosting, created by Ixora Cakes and favours of little candles in silver tin boxes. The couple’s first dance was to The Cure’s Lovesong which the couple have both loved for a really long time. Bongo players performed, which was in keeping the couple’s Bali setting!
