The first meeting

This gorgeous couple, who met at university, let their love blossom during their time as members of a climbing club. “Our first date was at my flat and I think we played Scrabble,” laughs Jane. The proposal took place on Jane’s 29th birthday over breakfast in bed, with her late mother’s diamond engagement ring

Jane fell in love with her real wedding dress – a stunning silk, lace and taffeta design that she found in Dream Catcher Bridal. “I chose this particular boutique because it was such a lovely place and the woman who helped me was so kind – a bit like a stylish Mum, which was nice because my own Mum is no longer around,” says Jane

The groom’s outfit

“Chris bought a three-piece real wedding suit from Ted Baker,” recalls Jane. “It had a kind of tweed pattern to it, which perfectly complemented our country-chic wedding day. I also surprised him with a silver engraved pocket watch, which he couldn’t stop smiling at,” adds Jane

The bridesmaids

“Because my girls are different shapes and sizes, I let them choose their own purple dresses from Bridal Italia,” remembers Jane. Two girls opted for dark-purple satin, while the others wore a light-purple taffeta

“I get quite teary thinking about all the special trinkets in my bouquet”

The ceremony

“We had a very traditional C of E ceremony in Preston. The church was full of invited guests and lots of our friends from the village who turned up to wish us well,” says Jane

The flowers

Because fresh flowers were hard to source during the winter months, the couple chose jewellery bouquets made bespoke by Vintage Magpie. “I used pieces of lace from my Mum’s wedding dress and some of her jewellery, as well as unique and sentimental pieces offered to me by friends and family. It makes me quite teary just thinking about how special everything was in my real wedding bouquet,” smiles Jane

The reception

Took place at Beeston Manor in Preston. “Music was Chris’ department and he found us a swing band The Jazz Prescription who really delivered. Chris even got out his trombone and joined in for a few sets,” recalls Jane. Favours were jars of winberry jam, and gin made from sloes collected in the autumn

The honeymoon

“We went on a multi-destination tour of America, taking in New Orleans, Chicago and New York. It sounds wonderful, but I was newly pregnant and sick, sick, sick!” says Jane.
