Do you love weddings and wish you could carry on planning long after your own big day is over? If your dream job is becoming a wedding planner, The UK Academy of Wedding and Event Planning could help…
Who are you?
My name is Kylie Carlson and I’m the Director of The UK Academy of Wedding and Event Planning. I have many years of experience planning events for blue-chip companies, HM Armed Forces and many more. This is the only training institution in the UK to offer courses in Wedding Styling and Design. We offer certificates in wedding planning and event planning and much more. We have a number of highly experienced wedding planners as tutors and we also offer online learning for those people who want to fit studying around their busy everyday lives.
Which category are you sponsoring?
We are sponsoring Best Wedding Dress Designer. This is a very prestigious award and one that is always hotly contested. Sassi Holford was a worthy winner in 2013, so we can’t wait to see who scoops the top prize this time around.
What’s great about the Wedding Ideas Awards?
The Wedding Ideas Awards 2014 gives couples the chance to shout from the rooftops about the service they’ve received from suppliers who have gone the extra mile and provided excellent customer service.
What are your company’s plans for 2014?
We are launching a new video series in January 2014 called the Wedding Wednesday Report, which is aimed at the ever-growing market of brides wishing to come into the wedding industry after planning or designing their own wedding. These videos will be released every Wednesday on our YouTube Channel and tackle the many aspects involved in a planning and designing weddings for a living. Between four and five minutes in length, they give the viewer a great insight into life working in the wedding industry. What are your top three wedding planning tips?
Enjoy the planning process
Don’t get caught up in seeking for absolute perfection in your wedding. Embrace the unexpected and enjoy every part of the planning process.
Learn to love Pinterest
Pinterest is your new best friend. To really narrow down and perfect your wedding style, use this online pin board for pinning all your inspiration, and from there you will start to see a pattern form. Wedding Ideas have some great boards, so use these for initial inspiration.
Don’t follow trends too closely
Don’t let trends dictate the look of your wedding. Have faith in your own design choice. This is your wedding and trends aren’t really important unless you love them. There is no such thing as an unfashionable wedding.
