A wedding dress disaster ended in a dream come true for this designer-clad bride, Laura, whose summer wedding to Rob was filled with fun and colour!

The proposal

Laura was expecting to get a hamster for Christmas – but instead she got an engagement ring! “I had been nagging Rob for a pet, and on Christmas Day he woke me up really early to go out and get my present,” Laura recalls. “We were driving along when Rob said his tyre felt funny, got out the car to have a look, and asked me to come help. As I climbed out, I found him down on one knee with my favourite view behind him, twinkling in the early morning Winter light.”

The bride’s outfit

Fate intervened in Laura’s hunt for her perfect gown. “I had a bit of a nightmare, as I ordered a dress a year before our wedding day, but when it arrived, it was all wrong and I didn’t have time to order a new one,” Laura explains. “It was obviously meant to be, because I then found a bride online who was selling her amazing Vera Wang gown for a fraction of the original price! I couldn’t believe my luck – it was the bargain of a lifetime and gave me a feeling that I never got with my original dress.” Laura accessorised with Jimmy Choo shoes, diamond earrings and a detailed belt.

Rob looked dashing in a striking blue suit from Marks and Spencer. “He looked so smart and smiley, and I felt instantly relaxed when I saw him looking at me from the end of the aisle,” Laura smiles.

The bridesmaids

Laura chose her four best friends as bridesmaids, and mixed them up in brightly colour chiffon dresses from Monsoon.

The ceremony

Laura and Rob tied the knot in a civil ceremony at Peover Golf Club, a beautiful oak-framed venue hidden in the Cheshire countryside. The service included a poem written ‘Twas the Night Before the Engagement‘. “It told the story of how we got engaged, and was the perfect introduction to our ceremony,” Laura says.

The reception

Bright and beautiful were the keywords for Laura and Rob’s reception. “We wanted it to be happy and carefree with lots of colour and bold flowers,” Laura explains. The popping blooms were provided by Blossom Flowers, with the table centres arranged in whisky bottles as a nod to Rob’s love of the spirit. “Our friend is a tree surgeon and got us a slice of tree trunk for everyone to sign instead of a guest book – we’re going to have legs put on it so we can use it as a coffee table,” Laura adds.

The honeymoon

Laura and Rob enjoyed a minimoon in Tuscany straight after their big day, followed a month later by a trip to Turkey, where they relaxed in a luxury room with its own private pool and garden.
