Just five minutes walk from Bath train station, we were soon inside the well equipped kitchen of the Vegetarian Cookery School.

We split up into groups of three, and the lessons were the perfect mix of demonstrations by the professional chefs. Followed by the chance for us to recreate the dishes.

Both the Vegetarian Cookery School and Demuths vegetarian restaurant are run and owned by Rachel. Her passion for creating light and fresh food suitable for veggies and vegans really shines through.

Her team are on hand to answer any tricky questions about the recipes you’re cooking so you never feel out of your depth.

After cooking a wide range of dishes including Irish soda bread, mushroom and chestnut pâté, salsa verde, chak-chouka and finally apple and calvados sponge. We took all the food upstairs for a wonderful social lunch with all the other participants.

To conclude the day, Rachel sends you home with all the recipes bound in a book, for you to recreate later at home – or maybe for your hen party or even wedding breakfast.

If you’re looking for sophisticated hen party ideas for all ages that combines a city break with some tasty treats, this is perfect for you!
