“A mid-week wedding may be the perfect solution for couples who want a more economical wedding without compromising on style,” says Georgina, wedding co-ordinator at Wadhurst Castle, a licensed wedding venue in East Sussex.
Wadhurst Castle, with its panoramic views over the beautiful Sussex countryside, offers the perfect setting. The wonderful Winter Garden can accommodate 26 people at one long table, while the Moncrieff Room is ideal for a slightly smaller gathering seating up to 22 at one table.
“Over the years we have worked with a wide variety of couples and we came to realise that there is a demand for the smaller wedding, and, for those who are happy to tie the knot during the week, it can be a very cost effective solution, too,” she says.
Wadhurst Castle’s small wedding packages are available for up to 30 people on Mondays to Thursdays, and also on Fridays during the winter months. The all-inclusive package includes catering and event management with a menu of choice – anything from bangers and mash to Boeuf Wellington, so you can really personalise your day.
This mid-week wedding option is the perfect compromise if you want a grand wedding venue without the big bill at the end of it all. You can still take advantage of everything the castle has to offer – just switch the day from a Saturday and you’ll save £££s in the process.
Mid-week weddings can also mean a saving on suppliers. Book between October and May, outside of the traditional wedding season and you could see substantial savings on everything from entertainment to florists’ services.
