FLORENCE CASTLE WEDDING | POWDER BLUE + PINK | ITALIAN FEAST + MILLEFEUILLE CAKE | FLORAL ARCH OUTDOOR CEREMONY | JAZZ BAND | SPAGHETTI STRAP SWEETHEART GOWN
>Meeting through mutual friends, Samantha remembers thinking how much Simon made her laugh. “Our first date was at Beach Blanket Babylon in Nottinghill. We loved the food and atmosphere and sat for hours by the fire chatting away,” says Samantha.
Simon arranged for the couple to fly out to California and stay at the San YSidro Ranch in Montecito, Santa Barbara for a surprise proposal. “Simon called me into the hotel room just before dinner one night,” says Samantha. “I knew we were planning to spend our lives together but I was so shocked when he said I was missing an accessory and gave me the ring!”
Samantha’s thin-strapped backless dress was by Inbal Dror in London. She teamed it with Jimmy Choo shoes and a silver locket on her bouquet containing a photograph of her beloved Grandma and Grandad on their wedding day. “My Grandma passed away and I wanted to make her a part of it in a special way,” says Samantha. The three bridesmaids chose ice blue flared dresses by Coast.
After planning in London, it was time to head to Italy for the wedding. Simon organised a private jet out to Florence for the couple. “I have never been on a private jet before and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life,” says Samantha.
The civil service was held at the Castello Di Vincigliata, a beautiful castle overlooking Florence. The couple had a lavish Italian feast of Antipasti, veal, seabass and vegetarian an with a traditional Italian millefeuille cake and a dessert table.
To create the wonderland fairytale theme that Sam dreamed of, Tuscany Flowers in Florence used lots of twinkling fairy lights and candle sticks mixed with beautiful large pink and white roses. “We gave our guests scented candles inside a tin as favours and an antique key hanging from a ribbon with their name and table number written on it in place of a table plan. It all came together really well,” says Samantha.
“We had a live violin and cello player for the ceremony, which was really lovely, and a jazz band during our canapés and cocktails. One of my oldest friends, Alex Simmons was the DJ for when we were all ready to dance! My most memorable moments had to be my Mum helping me into my beautiful wedding dress, my Dad walking me down the aisle and of course, Simon and I cutting the wedding cake. It was all so much fun – we wish we could do it all over again!” says Sam.
