A stunning real wedding in The Kingdom Hall, Cottingham filled with sunshine and sparkle. Marcella and Chris got married in June 2005
How they met
Marcella and Chris were friends before romance blossomed between them.
Proposal
They were in their favourite restaurant having an anniversary meal when Chris proposed. This was then chosen to become their wedding reception venue.
The bride’s real wedding outfit
Marcella found her beautiful dress in Proposals Bridal Room, Grimsby. Designed by Maggie Sottero, her diamond white satin dress had an organza overlay and was covered in pretty crystals, beads and embroidery all over the bodice and skirt.
Accessories
Marcella wore a veil in antique white and a pretty crystal tiara designed by Sweet Chestnut Designs. Her white pointed shoes were from Dune.
He wore
For his real wedding, Chris bought his chocolate brown suit, designed by Peter Van Holland, from Slater Menswear. He wore a pink silk tie to co-ordinate with Marcella’s bouquet. His ushers and best man wore their own suits, but they all matched the colour scheme with ivory silk ties.
Flowers
Marcella’s bouquet was a fabulous display of hand-tied pink aqua roses. The groom wore a matching buttonhole and the rest of the wedding party wore ivory akito rose buttonholes.
Transport
They hired a fabulous two-tone Daimler for the day.
Ceremony
Marcella’s favourite moment of her real wedding was walking down the aisle to meet Chris. She walked to a romantic piece of music called Chanson de Matin.
Reception décor
Marcella and Chris wanted everything to look simple but effective so they chose tall stem vases with a single rose and scattered rose petals.
Cake
The three tiers were bought from Marks and Spencer and then a local cake maker decorated it with organza ribbon and fresh roses – a great way of keeping costs down.
Music
An excellent three-piece jazz band was hired from Leeds College of Music to keep the guests entertained during the afternoon.
Theme
The day was based around an English country garden. The reception venue was perfect for this as it was an old manor house with beautiful gardens and rooms. The flowers were roses and the colour scheme was pink and ivory.
Bride’s tip
“As everyone will tell you, the day goes by so fast. So on the day, try and step back for a minute and take it all in. I made a mental note to do this and I have lots of special memories which will always be fresh and clear in my mind.”
Special moments
“There are so many, but the final special moment was when everyone stood outside waving us off for our honeymoon. A perfect end to a perfect day!”
Honeymoon
Parga, on the mainland coast of Greece was the perfect destination for a romantic honeymoon for Marcella and Chris.
Groom’s tip
“Have a glass of water to hand during the vows because your mouth gets very dry with the nerves!”
