The proposal

After spending four years together, Simon swept Lynley off her feet by asking her to marry him on bended knee at the top of Loughrigg Fell in the Lake District.

The bride’s real wedding outfit

Lynley chose a beautiful strapless dress, designed by Maggie Sottero and featuring a subtle, scalloped neckline, with gold Chantilly lace across the top of the fitted bodice. A real find from Bride and Groom in Preston, Lynley’s gown, with its cathedral-length train and lace trim, made her look every inch the gorgeous bride.

“Take some paracetamol before kick-off – all that hairspray on the day can wear a girl down…!”

The Bride’s accessories

Lynley’s veil was lent to her by a close friend as her ‘something borrowed’ and a fur shrug from John Lewis added both a luxurious touch and a versatile one. Lynley made it to the church on time with a beautiful bracelet-watch, plus a tiara and earrings set, all from Melt Tiaras. Her buckle-detail shoes from John Lewis completed the look.

The grooms outfit

For the real wedding, Simon looked very handsome in his charcoal-grey suit, with an ivory waistcoat and matching necktie, hired from Slaters Menswear in Preston.

The bridesmaids

Lynley’s bridesmaids wore stunning, full-length dresses in cerise-pink from Raylia. Their fabulous fascinators were also from Melt Tiaras, with dyed fuchsia feathers to match their dresses.

“Rustic Caribbean décor, mixed with typical italian flair, was a winning reception combination”.

The flowers

The bouquets and table decorations for the real wedding were designed by Linda Hardman, of The Flower Shop in Clitheroe. “We went for a combination of roses, hydrangeas, ivy, ranunculus and lime-green berries, finished off with a scattering of pearls,” says Lynley.

The ceremony

During the day with rum inside for a bit of Dutch (or Jamaican!) courage” “We married in a beautiful church, just a mile from our house,” explains Lynley. “our friend sang Eva cassidy’s version of Songbird as I walked down the aisle and my sister-in-law read the same reading that I had read at her wedding!”.
