“We had a lovely ceremony, despite the owl carrying the wedding rings flying off down the aisle!”

The accessories

The bride completed her real wedding look with a handmade silver necklace from Princess Poppy Tiaras, which was made using a pearl that Heather and Geoff had chosen on holiday in Florida. Her curled updo was dressed with cream freesias and a Champagne gold veil.

The groom’s outfit

“We had a lovely ceremony, despite the owl carrying the wedding rings flying Geoff opted for traditional Scottish dress by choosing a grey kilt and Jacobite shirt from Georgian Dress Hire, which matched the style of Heather’s gown perfectly.

The bridesmaids

Heather’s four bridesmaids wore deep burgundy dresses, the design of which they each chose to suit their style. Their necklaces were also made by Princess Poppy Tiaras and diamanté pins in their hair were the finishing touch.

The flowers

Heather’s beautiful teardrop bouquet included red roses, freesias and gerberas with trailing ivy. The bridesmaids had bouquets of cream gerberas. All the flowers for the real wedding were by fiona Halliburton.

The ceremony

Heather and Geoff’s ceremony was a special and fun occasion – it featured an owl as their ring-bearer, à la Harry Potter! At one point, it took fright and flew off down the aisle, only to land on one of the guests who is scared of birds!.

The reception

Emma and Chris’s reception took place at the Great Hall in Rochdale Town Hall, a Grade I building with beautiful Gothic architecture. Tables were dressed in a pink and brown theme, with centrepieces of pink gerbera heads floating in fish bowls with clear crystal beads. Pink and brown table runners were placed on tables with alternating pink and brown organza sashes on the chairs.

“If we could plan our wedding again, I’d make the day twice as long – it was so much fun”

The favours

Fasque House, near Fettercairn in Scotland, was the venue for the day and tables were decorated with wrought iron candelabras, adorned with deep red roses, gerberas and freesias, and cream candles. The Friendly Food Company provided a menu including starters of smoked salmon or hot bacon salad, a main course buffet with Scottish beef, salmon and lamb, and dessert of pavlova. The chocolate wedding cake was from Cakes by Design in Fettercairn.

The music

A string quartet played during the ceremony and, following a falconry display in the evening, Mayfolk took over with a mix of ceilidh and alternative music.

The real wedding theme

Was Scottish medieval, so Heather could wear her dream dress!

The honeymoon

Heather and Geoff stayed at the Little Arches Hotel in Barbados.
