By Harriet is all about personal service and ensuring that every client knows their value with Harriet as an absolute individual. Designs are created, adapted, alterations are made and everyone receives accessories that are perfect for them. Harriet works closely with clients and wants them to totally trust her and feel at ease particularly in being able to share ideas and worries, and every bride listened to and looked after. Every design is as unique as the woman that wears it and every client is important.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

“People, and making them happy! That may sound clichéd but as anyone working in a creative profession can testify, being able to work with a client from an initial conversation through to delivering something they are truly happy with is an absolute pleasure, and to be able to do it for a living is the icing on the cake”.

Harriet works flexibly and creatively from her home studio in East Yorkshire and offers a unique ‘sample service’ that allows brides to take a range of her accessories to fittings or trials and does this because she believes this will be invaluable to the bride achieving the perfect all round look for her dream day!

From £30 to £500 and everything in between, Harriet can work to fulfil a brides’ brief to her budget, advising on what is possible and making recommendations accordingly.

How far in advance would you advise a bride to order?

“Definitely not on the day you choose your dress! Accessories complete an outfit and need to be considered carefully, rather than as an excited afterthought. I recommend a minimum of 3-6 months ahead of the wedding to allow for trying with the dress and hair trials, that way alterations can be made if required. I can work with shorter timescales but find it less stressful for brides if they give themselves time”

Where do you get your inspiration from?

“In terms of creating a bespoke design, the brides personality and her vision for her day is my inspiration. I need to understand the day she dreams of, and the ideas emerge from there. In general terms, I am a complete visual magpie, saving and storing images of everything that has caught my eye in my mind. I just love the theatre, costumes and all kinds of art but there is just so much to soak up in the everyday that I am continually experimenting and testing new ideas”.
