If you’ve always dreamed of being a princess on your big day then Berkeley Castle is the place to be, for the photo opportunities alone…

It was built in 1153 for the Berkeley Family who still resides in the Castle today. The magnificent rooms and the stunning grounds can be enjoyed exclusively, providing you with some of the most breathtaking backdrops for your wedding photographs.

The Castle is home to beautifully manicured grounds, making the lawns and the lily pond an ideal location for your drinks reception on a glorious summer’s day.

Around every corner, there is another photo opportunity, making it a dream come true for photographers. They can capture the sun rays dancing on the lily pond, while you enjoy a glass of Champagne as husband and wife or gather your bridal party for a group shot on the venue’s amazing ‘Hollywood stairs’ with the fountain cascade in the background.

Take a stroll, hand in hand, along the lower lawn or lower terraces to see the grandeur of Berkeley Castle in all its glory; this shot is so breathtaking it will remind you of your big day at this beautiful venue forever.

The Castle’s exquisite interior is decorated with tapestries and portraits of the historic ancestors of the Berkeley Family. The Great Hall is a magnificent room with beautiful stained glass windows and an ornate ceiling. The perfect place to photograph the magic in this room is from up on the mistral’s gallery overlooking the splendour of the Hall without any corner or alcove unseen.

Wet weather on your big day? No problem! Berkeley Castle has a wealth of beautiful rooms inside so you don’t even have to venture outside if the rain is coming down.

The Long Drawing Room is lovely for those late night evening shots. The intimate room has lots of character with stone engravings, beautiful log fire and the Kings Pugh, built for King Henry VIII.

Before the sun sets, step outside for a romantic first dance in the arches of the Bailey Gate to watch the sunset over the Gun Terrace. The dramatic outline of the stone Castle and the light through the gates create the ultimate backdrop.

Your wedding photographs will be looked back on for years to come, so make sure they feature one of the most stunning settings in the country! Want to know what to ask your photographer? Check out our essential questions to ask your wedding suppliers here.
