Dormy House

Where did you stay?

Dormy House Hotel is perched high above the village of Broadway, with fabulous views across the Cotswolds, it really is the perfect rural retreat. Think cosy corners, log fires and sumptuous interiors. A bit like home, but better! Originally a 17th century farmhouse, this gorgeous place is a lesson in fine design, it’s only when you step inside that you begin to
understand what the Dormy is really about. Contemporary design meets Cotswold chic – it’s a relaxing place where you’re encouraged to kick off your shoes and put your feet up. After all, that’s what the furniture is for!

What’s special about it?

Their very own House Spa – and it’s all about making you feel absolutely fabulous. Think clean Scandinavian design meets cosy Cotswold stone and you get the picture. On the ground floor, guests can lounge around a 16-metre infinity pool, while upstairs you can graze in the sumptuous new glass pavilion while the Cotswold wildlife gazes back. There’s also a state of the art training studio for those with a little more energy, but we headed to the Champagne Nail Parlour instead. However, our absolute favourite was the outdoor ‘bubble bath’ – where we sat at dusk, very romantic! It was wonderfully relaxing with a water therapy pool, heated to body temperature providing a haven in a garden landscape, even on frosty winter days.

What was the food like?

In one word – yummy! Dormy House has long been at the centre of the Cotswold’s gastronomic map with two delicious dining experiences. The Garden Room restaurant proves that fine dining doesn’t have to be fussy while next door The Potting Shed is all about great local grub. The ethos is to present superb dishes of seasonal country food, both farmed and foraged, using suppliers who are known personally to the hotel. Don’t forget, The Dormy overlooks the Vale of Evesham, otherwise known as the Garden of England.
