Congratulations to our amazing Bride of the Year, Naomi Thomas!
“Being told I was a finalist in the Bride of the Year category was fantastic enough without then going on to win it. I have literally never won anything in my life!,” says Naomi. “The event was spectacular, down to the smallest of details. I have never been to anything like it. On top of that the location of the venue was breath taking. Tower Bridge lit up at night was simply the most beautiful view I have ever seen.”
“Wining Bride of the Year has, as mad is it sounds, changed my life. A week ago I was the founder of a successful charity. Today I am the founder of a charity that is being supported by and is working alongside some of the biggest names in the wedding industry.”
“I am the luckiest person in the world right now. With all this support it means that in 2013 we are going to be able to make the dreams come true of even more deserving couples before time runs out.”
Nominations just kept rolling in for this brave South West mum. Naomi used her own wedding day to launch a very special charity called The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation whose one purpose is to organise and fund weddings for terminally ill people. Naomi, who is currently fighting secondary breast cancer herself, works on raising funds throughout the year to ensure that most of the major costs are covered, working with generous wedding suppliers who kindly donate their services for free. Thanks to her wonderfully caring nature and determination to succeed she has built up a list of patrons, including Olympic silver medal equestrian Mary King.
“Naomi is strong, loving and inspirational,” says her husband Graham. “To see Naomi planning weddings for other people, and seeing the emotional reaction she gets, the standing ovations, is absolutely brilliant. I love it!”
“Working as a wedding planner for many years before being diagnosed with cancer, setting up the organisation felt like a natural progression for me,” adds Naomi. “It’s lovely to see people have the wedding of their dreams under such challenging circumstances.” Wedding Ideas couldn’t agree more and we have pledged our support to this very worthy cause.
