Not sure where to head on your honeymoon? Here are just some of the reasons you should jet away to Mauritius after your big day…
It’s no secret that planning a wedding can be stressful. Sending out invitations, posing for photos, and booking appointments… there’s a lot to think about, and a lot of tasks to tick off your to-do list.
So, it’s always nice to have something to look forward to when it’s all done and dusted – spending the rest of your life with your soon-to-be spouse, of course (!) – but in the short run, there should also be a blissful honeymoon on the horizon.

Your honeymoon signifies the beginning of your marriage, so you should try to give it as much attention as you can. There are endless options to choose from, including the usual suspects – Bali, Paris, and the Maldives – but for those who want to try something a little different, have you considered Mauritius?
Here are some of the reasons this beautiful East African nation is the perfect spot for a romantic honeymoon…
Plentiful activities and sights
There is no shortage of gorgeous landscapes and things to do when on holiday in Mauritius. The shoreline is nothing short of breathtaking and there are more things to see and do here. For one thing, the Seven Coloured Earth in the Savanne district will surely be an impressive sight. The volcanos, tea plantations, and botanical gardens are all worth exploring as well.

It’s only right for you to be meticulous when it comes to planning your honeymoon. After all, this is a romantic retreat for you and your partner before you embark on the rest of your lives together.
A honeymoon, ideally, something that you will remember forever. And while everyone has their own version of the perfect post-wedding getaway, we’re hard-pressed to come up with a place that is any closer to paradise!
Excellent golfing
It doesn’t matter if you’re a veteran or an amateur golfer, as Mauritius has something for all skill levels. There are around a dozen courses to choose from, and from here on out, this number is only bound to increase. Fun fact: it was even hailed the African Golf Destination of the Year in 2016.
If you’re not a fan of the sport, there’s no better way to begin your union than by taking up a hobby together. There are lots of beautiful hotels with golf courses in Mauritius that are often very luxurious.
Pristine beaches
The white sand beaches, lush palm trees, and pristine waters of Mauritius have drawn many visitors over the years. Nothing can be more enjoyable than taking a companionable stroll with your significant other along its endless shoreline.
Alternatively, why don’t you take in the beautiful sunset while lying down in a cabana with a cocktail in hand? This little island nation is a strong contender for the most tranquil views in the world.
Exciting watersports
Restless honeymooners need not worry about keeping themselves occupied. It’s practically a given that there are excellent snorkeling and diving spots in the Indian Ocean.

However, Mauritius takes its innate natural wonders a step further by offering kitesurfing. If you’re not too keen on these activities, it’s also possible to take a tour on a submarine or an underwater scooter.
