Lynne & Paul
CYPRUS CEREMONY | LACE AND SPARKLES | LILIES AND ROSES | PEARLS | JIMMY CHOO SHOES
Lynne and Paul said ‘I do’ in a picturesque Cyprus ceremony, after first meeting in a bar back in 2006. Paul got down on bended knee on Lynne’s birthday in 2013. “After opening my cards and presents in bed with Paul and our daughter he passed me over another gift bag with a jewellery box in. When I opened the box Paul got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.”
The bride’s beautiful La Sposa by Pronovias gown came from George James Bridal in Bedford. Describing the experience, Lynne says “Nicola was fabulous, she was very attentive and made every appointment really personal but was great at including any family and friends that came along. She was very patient, letting me explore different styles and she absolutely supported my final choice.” Lynne found her dream dress after visiting three boutiques and trying 12 dresses.
When it came to accessories, subtly stunning pearls were the order of the day. “I wanted something classic so chose a pearl and crystal hair slide which I wore to the side with my hair up and a pearl and crystal belt which really made the dress stand out.” Her shoes were Jimmy Choo Luna in Lychee Glitter. For her something old, Lynne chose a 15-year-old necklace, teaming it with a pearl and crystal bracelet borrowed from friend Tracy.
Having a total of nine bridesmaids, the dresses were a combination of candy pink and white gowns paired with crystal hair bands and baskets filled with rose petals.
The groom and groomsmen chose their suits from Moss Bros. “Paul wanted a lovely light suit and he ordered the same for his best man, his dad and for Nigel who gave me away.”
“Paul really wanted to get married abroad and I wanted a religious ceremony so Cyprus was a great choice as we could have the ceremony I wanted but in a lovely warm country. The Elysium Hotel offered everything we were looking for, we were able to have our ceremony in the lovely chapel in the hotel grounds and hold the wedding breakfast and reception in the hotel so our guests didn’t need to worry about transport, we could all just relax and enjoy the day.” Lynne chose rose and lily centrepieces, arranged by The Elysium and their cake was baked by the hotel’s chef.
Lynne’s friend’s husband Nigel gave her away as both her parents had sadly passed away. Nigel also gave a speech, as did Paul and his best man Ted. “The speeches were very emotional as they all spoke about my parents that could not be there, but they all injected a fair amount of humour too,” remembers Lynne.
The couple also held a reception at Woburn after the wedding for guests who could not be at the Cyprus ceremony and reception. “We wanted somewhere that would still feel special and like our reception but also wanted the evening to feel relaxed and everyone to enjoy the party.” They repeated their first dance to John Legend’s ‘All of Me’ and served guests a roulade of beef and goat’s cheese tarts with potatoes, salads, rustic bread and continental meats and cheeses.
A DJ and magician completed the evening’s entertainment as the newlyweds partied with family and friends until 1:30am.
