Taken by surprise – that’s how this bride felt when she met the man that would one day become her husband. “Tim wasn’t my usual type but there was something about him that just made me feel like I really needed to talk to him. His sense of humour and personality was addictive and we became inseparable pretty quickly. We were friends for a while first, but I’ve never laughed so hard as I did on our first official date and I just knew that whatever happened I needed Tim to be in my life forever,” gushes Jennifer.
For the proposal, Tim picked the place where they first celebrated Valentine’s Day, the Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire. “It was between Christmas and New Year, so it was already a magical time of year. He’d filled the walled garden of the hotel with candles, white roses and rose gold chandeliers, even arranging for the hotel to have my favourite Earl Grey tea, Champagne and chocolates ready! It was so beautiful and amazing how well he knew me – I just wanted to take photos and capture every moment! Tim got down on one knee and proposed with a stunning rose gold, four claw twist ring that held a round diamond, with smaller diamonds decorating the band. It was breathtaking and I was completely overwhelmed by how beautifully he had proposed.”
This bride found her dream dress at Vera Wang for Browns, Mayfair. “I received the most incredible service from Bernadeta Capaja. She took my dress in to fit me beautifully and made my bespoke veil to go with it. She even found me the perfect Ender Legard corset to wear beneath my dress.” ‘Gemma’ by Vera Wang was the gown of choice.
“I fell for the classic mermaid shape combined with the French tulle and organza which offered a more modern touch.”
I chose to have the shimmering sequins in the cut of the skirt blossoms which was so worth the investment – it caught the light every time I moved and added to the dramatic effect!”
Jennifer added vintage 1920s earrings for her something old; her bridesmaids gifted her a rose gold Monica Vinader bracelet for her something new, and her something blue came in the form of a blue bridal garter from Agent Provocateur.
Tim sourced his tuxedo, shirt and accessories from John Lewis, adding Dune shoes from Selfridges and an Earnshaw watch. “He looked incredible – I love seeing him in a suit! I couldn’t look at him for too long as I walked down the aisle because he was almost in tears and I knew that if he cried he would set me off too!
I have such an amazing group of girlfriends that when it came to choosing bridesmaids it had to be two or ten. I asked Ami Hosking and Melissa Sophia – they are my dream team! We stayed in a luxurious suite the night before the wedding at No. 11 Cadogan Gardens for some girly time – it was a gorgeous night with my favourite girls.
“They wore dusky pink, floor-length multiway dresses from In One Clothing.”
Bardot hair buns made their look even more elegant and I gifted them each Monica Vinader personalised rose gold Havana friendship bracelets.” Luckily for this bride, her two bridesmaids are also incredible hair and makeup artists. “I struck gold!” laughs Jennifer.
This couple legally married intimately a few days before their wedding at Mayfair Library. “We only invited our parents and Tim’s best man who took photographs for us. We had afternoon tea at The Ritz afterwards to celebrate – it was really nice to have that intimate time together.” On their big day, Jennifer and Tim then had a church service at Holy Trinity, Sloane Square. “The church was beautiful and the choir made it feel so regal but still so intimate.”
The reception took place at the iconic The Waldorf Hilton in London’s West End.
“We brought the venue to life and celebrated its rich heritage with a classic Hollywood glamour theme, incorporating it in everything from our music and lighting to even the scent.”
I had giant versions of my favourite scented candle made so the experience would be magical for every sense.” An ivory and rose gold colour scheme echoed their enchanting engagement scene, also influencing their handmade stationery designs.
Jo Makepeace arranged the flowers, which featured white roses and baby’s breath, and made the floral garland that decorated the cake table. The couple’s wedding cake offered a nod to their wedding journey.
Made from caramel bronze macarons, the bride’s favourite from Laduree, it was served with a Vera Wang cake knife.
Designer Chair Covers supplied the giant flower wall and delicate paper butterflies decorated the glassware. Rose petals, candles and mirrored table tops ensured that every detail was considered, even down to the rose gold Swarovski pen for the guest book. “All of this was made possible by our incredible wedding planner Sonia from Event Artisans London. Her insight and connections saved us a lot of time and money and made the lead up to our wedding better and more stress free than we could ever have dreamed.”
