Becci Clubb enjoyed a taste of the high life in London when she visited the Royal Lancaster London…
With views looking out across Hyde Park and the city skyline, the Royal Lancaster London is set in prime position for a romantic minimoon in the capital. Walking into the lobby, the modern lighting, marble staircase and semi-circle glass frontage were just a taster of the beautiful interiors to come. Having recently undergone an £80-million renovation, the hotel is modern, inviting and fabulously luxurious.
We were lucky enough to be staying in a Park Suite. Here, your private retreat begins with a huge lounge, complete with panoramic views of Hyde Park, leading through a corridor that is home to a huge wardrobe, before you reach the bedroom. And what a bedroom, with a king-sized bed and those incredible views to wake to!
If you can bring yourself to leave the suite, there is so much to see and do. A 10-minute walk delivers you to Oxford Street for some serious retail therapy, or you can wander out through Hyde Park to reach the V&A, Science and Natural History Museums, as well as the Royal Albert Hall and Harrods.
Back at the hotel, we dined in the Island Grill restaurant and the quality of food and service made us very glad we did. I can highly recommend the duck breast served with wild mushrooms, kale and red wine jus, and you simply must try the mouthwatering side of garlic mash! The hotel also houses the award-winning restaurant, Nipa Thai, serves a stunning afternoon tea and lays on a buffet banquet every breakfast time.
