To round off Winter Weddings Week, we want to share with you photos of an incredible snowy real wedding! Although it was an icy day, these photographs shot by the talented Lee Hatherall have definitely got us feeling warm inside.
Some brides really want to have a white wedding. Others, much to their surprise, discover that they are having a white wedding and are unprepared for it.
That’s what happened to Katie and Dave who got married at award-winning St Audries Park in Somerset. Just 24 hours before their big day there was a massive snowfall – and it was all hands on deck at their venue to allow the guests to make their way down the long rural driveway.
Thanks to midnight gritting and a busy snowplough, just about everybody made it and the wedding ceremony in the Orangery was magical.
Dave was wearing a white morning coat to match his bride – and although the couple weren’t planning on snow, we think his white outfit looks fantastic against a snowy backdrop.
Katie had chosen burgundy frocks as a colour theme and we think this pop of colour also contrasts beautifully with the all-white surroundings.
Staff at St Audries were on hand just inside the doors to hand Katie and her maids their party shoes – she wasn’t planning on saying her vows in her pink boots!
The photographer was Lee Hatherall, who is based in Weston Super Mare in Somerset – we love his style of using the backdrop to frame photographs.
Lee has also sent us some other images of snowy weddings – we love this bride’s feathery shrug, which is perfect for setting off a snow princess wedding dress.
Would you like to have a snowy wedding day? It does make for wonderful pictures – although you need a few back-up plans to deal with transport issues, keeping shoulders warm and feet dry, plus making sure guests are comfortable. Read our top tips on keeping your winter wedding guests happy!
