After hinting that a proposal was on the cards at his concert on Saturday, the 36-year-old rapper finally popped the question to his reality star girlfriend on her 33rd birthday – and what a proposal! Kanye hired out the entire AT&T Park in San Francisco for the occasion, although it remained empty apart from Kim’s close friends and family, who remained hidden in one of the dugouts until the birthday girl had said yes.
According to sources, Kanye got down on one knee as the stadium’s jumbo screen flashed the message ‘PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!’, while in the background a 50-piece orchestra played Lana Del Rey’s Young and Beautiful, followed by Keri Hilson, Ne-Yo and Kanye’s Knock You Down.
Kim’s ring is a flawless 15-carat diamond ring designed by celebrity favourite, jeweller Lorraine Schwartz – who also designed Beyonce’s 18-carat stunner. We wonder if Kanye asked close friend Jay-Z for ring advice. Never one to finish without a bang, the couple’s engagement extravaganza reportedly finished with a huge display of fireworks and Roman candles – now that’s what we call a birthday surprise!
