This lovely couple met while they were working together. “Our relationship developed three years ago when a kiss goodnight landed on my lips rather than on my cheek!” says Jodie. Ian proposed at home on Christmas Day, “we had just finished opening our gifts when Ian surprised me with one more – as I saw the ring, he got down on one knee and popped the question!” she recalls.
Jodie wore an Ian Stuart lace dress with sweetheart neckline, purchased at Bellissima Weddings. She added a fresh water pearl and Swarovski crystal hairpiece and Jasper Conran shoes to complete her look. Ian looked dapper in a navy blue tailcoat from Anthony Formal Wear, teamed with a paper button hole to match their daughter Ella’s wand which Jodie made using paper from Hobbycraft. The flowergirl wore a dress from Ted Baker and bridesmaids, Abi and Loren, wore Jenny Packham dresses and shrugs.
The religious ceremony was held over Christmas at St John Lateran Church set within the grounds of Hengrave Hall, where the beautiful reception was then held. The couple dined on roasted butternut squash, feta and sage tartlet to start, followed by beef bourguignon and apple and cinnamon crumble for dessert. Jodie and Ian used lots of candles and Christmas baubles as extra décor, a used suitcase as a gift card box, and for extra romance and a special festive touch, they hung mistletoe above the bar.
The church was filled with Roses, Eucalyptus and Pepper Berries, with white open Amaryllis in globe vases as table centres at the reception. For favours, their guests were given cloth bags filled with Lindt truffles – these were actually placed on their pillows as thank you gifts for when everyone retired to their rooms for the night. “Our first dance was to Al Green’s Lets Stay Together,” says Jodie. “We absolutely loved the words – if we could do it all again, we would in a heartbeat!”
