The proposal

Anthony proposed to Joanne while they were spending time together at home. “I was feeding the cats and I could hear him going in and out of the room,” Joanne says. “I turned around and there he was with a ring and seven roses – one for each year we’d been together!”

The bride’s outfit

Jo wore a gorgeous fitted lace Maggie Sottero gown from Aurora on the Isle of Man.
She accessorised it with pearl encrusted shoes by The Glass Slipper Company and a hair comb she bought with her inheritance from her nan. “I was devastated that she wouldn’t be at our wedding,” Joanne explains. “Buying it with the money she left me meant she would be a part of our special day!”

The bridesmaids

Jo was attended by seven bridesmaids who all wore Alfred Angelo dresses in a rainbow of colours so they would match the couple’s theme perfectly!

The couple had a religious ceremony, “Arriving at the church to the bagpipes playing in the beautiful sunshine was so exciting!” smiles Joanne.

The reception

A reception highlight for the bride was an impromptu photoshoot with her bridesmaids and their umbrellas! “It was so much fun,” laughs Joanne. “Everyone driving past were beeping their horns and cheering!” The theme was rainbow and fairground, which included covering the carpet and curtains, and using drape and star cloth around the walls. Beautiful Blooms provided the amazing bright flowers and Alison Ratcliffe, a local cake maker made the fun helter skelter cake! As favours, the couple gave their guests mini jars filled with sweets of the same colour as their table. As well as that, their nearest and dearest received a white photo frame to put their photo booth pics in, too. Joanne and Anthony took to the dancefloor for the first time to How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding. A DJ and local band, Brown Sugar entertained guests and there was also a candyfloss and popcorn cart for sweet treats.
