Miriam and Leon chose a cool and glamorous look for their vintage wedding in the gorgeous countryside of Cheltenham. How beautiful is her dress!
The proposal
Many years after their first date, Leon finally proposed to Miriam over dinner in a luxurious restaurant. “Leon had been acting nervous all week, so I knew he was up to something, but it was still a wonderful surprise,” Miriam smiles.
The bride’s outfit
Miriam chose a dramatic high-necked gown from Pronovias at The White Collection, with Spanish lace and a fishtail silhouette. “It made me feel amazing,” she recalls. She wore her dress with beaded peep-toe shoes from Phase Eight, a hair clip from Ivory & Co and jewellery from notonthehighstreet.com.
The groom’s outfit
Leon turned heads in his classic mid-grey tailcoat, teamed with an ivory waistcoat and a champagne gold cravat. “He looked perfect,” says Miriam.
The bridesmaids
The five bridesmaids dazzled in strapless, tea-length champagne dresses from Coast and strappy sandals from Dune.
The ceremony
Miriam and Leon were married at Trinity Cheltenham, a thriving Evangelical church. “My father is no longer with us, so I walked down the aisle with my eldest brother,” Miriam explains.
The reception
The couple’s reception was held at Lodge Park, a beautiful 17th-century National Trust grandstand in acres of Cotswold countryside. “It felt fantastic to arrive at the Lodge after the ceremony, knowing we had done the official bit and could now relax,” Miriam says. The wedding breakfast was a highlight, with paella cooked live in the room alongside breads and salads, followed by a trio of desserts. In the evening, a cold buffet was served, with a cheese cake made and transported from Guernsey by Miriam’s aunt. “We put disposable cameras on each table, as well as pass-the-parcels with ice-breaking questions,” says Miriam.
The details
The newlyweds chose a vintage glam theme, and dressed their venue with wicker hearts, candelabra, pearls, lanterns and signs from Cotswolds Vintage Party Hire. The evening reception took place in a marquee and started with a live band, followed by a DJ. Miriam and Leon also hired a caricaturist to entertain their guests with hilarious portraits. The lavish cake included tiers of chocolate, lemon, apple and cinnamon, and was ornately decorated with iced ruffles and flowers.
The honeymoon
Miriam and Leon flew to Mauritius where they stayed at the Four Seasons and took party in exhilarating watersports as well as exploring the area.
