One of our very favourite trends from the last couple of years is print – as well as the classic floral, patterns like polka dots, chevrons and bold stripes can look great on everything from your stationery to your bridesmaid dresses! Don’t know where to start? Check out our top tips for creating a pattern wedding theme!

One of the brilliant things about prints and patterns is that they can create a completely different theme depending on your colour choice! You can choose to stick to monochrome for a bold, elegant scheme, or choose sweet pastel colours for a summery feel. We love to see patterns combined with bright shades, too – just limit your palette to four complementary colours or fewer to avoid visual overkill!
A great place to start when creating a graphic-inspired wedding theme is to pick your pattern and stick with it. Although you can choose delicate, complex designs such as paisley, ditsy florals or Art Nouveau flourishes, we prefer clean, simple prints for this look. Here are a couple of our favourites!

Chevron
This preppy zig-zag pattern has become huge in the wedding world recently! A fashion-forward print like the chevron is the perfect way to add a touch of modern to an otherwise traditional day, and would look brilliant on stationery, tablecloths and backdrops.

Polka dots
The polka dot has always been a popular choice for a wedding pattern, because it can suit every theme from English country garden to retro rockabilly. As well as classics like red and pink, our favourite new dotty trends are metallics like gold and silver, and using polka dots to add texture to a fabric or cake.

Stripes
The key to getting stripes right for a wedding is to go big or go home – we’re talking bold here, not thin little pinstripes! This classic print is great for couples who want to add an interesting pattern to their day but who don’t want to go overboard. Why not try monochrome stripes with popping coloured details?
