How To Capture The Most ‘You’ Wedding Video EVER With The Genius Idea Behind Shoot It Yourself…
Why should you film your own wedding video? We caught up with the couples that did just that, asking their friends and family to film their big day before sending the footage back to Shoot It Yourself to edit into a short video…
Chloe and Jonathan
We were not keen on having a videographer at the wedding as quite often they seem to be quite intrusive,” explains Chloe. “Instead, we used Shoot It Yourself, which allowed us to get some great footage, but with our friends and family filming so it was more intimate. The video editing that they have done is great too; almost a behind-the-scenes wedding video!
Susanna and Christian
“I laughed and laughed when I watched the video. It was amazing to see all the faces (sober and drunk) of all the people we loved.”
“It brought a massive smile to our faces re-living the day! There’s a very home movie quality to the video, it feels like your friends filmed it (which they did!) so that kind of fun and intimacy is really lovely. The professional photographer gets the pretty shots and your mates will get the real deal!”
We got married at my parent’s farm in Leicestershire for a ‘brash and beautiful’ country wedding,” say’s Susanna. We got married in the barn – a last minute change of plan given the weather – we sheltered under bright umbrellas, ate under fairy lights, and partied in the tipi.We really wanted a wedding video because we both work in television and know that video captures such different elements from photos. But we had spent so much on everything else that we couldn’t afford a professional videographer.
“We booked SIY because it was so much more affordable than a professional videographer and it also took the stress out of organising another professional.”
Rachel and Jez
“I have already watched it a million times,” laughs Rachel. “Shoot It Yourself captured the emotions and all the special memories so perfectly.”
The editing is wonderful, too and the music works so well.”
Hannah and Ritchie
We absolutely love, love, love our wedding video. The editing and music are perfect. It really captures the feeling of the day and makes us feel like we’re re-living it every time we watch it! Hannah and Ritchie’s beautiful day was set in the beautiful location of Talton Lodge, south Warwickshire. The quirky and creative bohemian theme fit perfectly with their yurt venue.
Victoria and Anil
We liked the idea of having a video to look back on the day and to remember all the bits we might forget or didn’t get to see!” admitted Victoria.
“But we were worried about camera men getting in the way, and wanted to avoid anything cheesy or impersonal.” Looking through Victoria and Anil’s wedding footage, it’s safe to say that their video is anything but cheesy “We absolutely loved the result!
“The best thing about it was all the video messages left by our guests – we had no idea that was happening so it was a lovely surprise.”
Having our friends and family doing the filming meant that people could be themselves on camera. This resulted in lots of hilarious moments being recorded.”
