20 year old designer, Gbemi Okunlola – also seen on BBC’s 2011 Young Apprentice – started her career as London’s youngest fashion designer at the age of 11 and now almost 10 years on she is launching her new bridal collection, Alo’Nuko.
On Thursday 9th July, the fashion designer will be giving 400 guests a first look to 15 hand-stitched wedding dresses in a catwalk style fashion show at the launch of her brand new, luxury bespoke collection.
Gbemi Okunola, CEO, Alo’Nuko said: “Working in fashion and starting my own business whilst growing up in Peckham saved me from a lot of things that I could have been involved with. I feel like a lot of the violence and youth crime in South London is because people are idle and are afraid to follow their dreams.”
“Being a young fashion designer was very time-consuming and demanding which meant that on a daily basis after school or college I was working in my studio instead of getting involved with the wrong crowd, and now my dream is becoming a reality. I am excited to share the Alo’Nuko bridal launch with everyone.”
Whilst creating Alo’Nuko: The Bridal Collection, the designer focused on sophistication and originality, making every piece unique – telling the story to each individual bride.
Alo’Nuko is calling on all brides living in London to come out to this once-in-a-lifetime event and celebrate this amazing achievement. To book a ticket, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
