Whether you’re a traditionalist or a trendsetter, when planning a wedding it’s always good to know what’s trending. Child Paper Co sees popular themes from last year continuing, some evolving and some brand new, fresh ideas. So, here’s some hot wedding invitation trends to inspire you!

Calligraphy

Calligraphy styled fonts and hand lettering earn their place right at the top of our trends list. Don’t think medieval styled ornate type lettering of the past, today we see modern, free flowing, pretty fonts, flourished all over our stationery. It really is ‘all about the font’ in some cases, with large oversized fonts used as the main feature. This is seen here in the Carissa range.

Botanical

We have seen an abundance of florals over the past season, dominating wedding stationery. This year, it’s not just about florals, foliage and herbs also play a key role in this trend. Wedding flowers have become more unstructured and wild in appearance, having a “just picked from the garden” look, a look that is reflected throughout Child Paper Co’s stationery.

Watercolour

Watercolour and Ombre effects are gaining in popularity and are set to be a huge wedding trend. With its soft romantic feel, watercolour lends itself perfectly to wedding stationery. Watercolour details are being seen predominately within large floral designs, but also used as a background.

Woodland

Natural elements have been prevalent for the past few seasons with the rustic theme still growing in popularity. This texture driven trend is here to stay and we will see more woodland inspiration being unveiled such as wildlife, wood, trees and greenery. Our Lilly ‘mix n match’ range features several printed textured backgrounds. Mix n match textures to give an eclectic feel to your stationery.

Deep and moody

Moving away from the traditional ivory invitations, a deep and moody colour palette has been emerging. To give these deep tones a more romantic feel, team them with dreamy florals, pretty lettering or a subtle watercolour base. Break up the deep colours in your stationery by using light inserts or RSVPs.

Monograms

Monograms are back and it’s not just about traditional symbolic letter locking. Couples’ initials are presented and celebrated in a more modern or organic way. With the Hattie invite, the Bride and Grooms’ initials are nestled amongst pretty vines.
