Lace sleeves

Lace sleeves have been hot on the bridal scene ever since April 2011 when Kate and Wills got hitched. The trend doesn’t seem to be dying down and in 2014 you can be sure to see more of this elegant design. Lace takes many different forms and the sleeves vary in length and style but we can always be sure that these dresses will be some of the most stylish around. A design that we can recommend and we are sure will be red hot in 2014 is ‘Carmen’ by Olivia Grace. ‘Carmen’ has a removable lace bolero which adds the lace sleeve factor to this dress. The stunning bolero sits just off of the shoulders and a dainty scalloped edge creates a romantic effect. The lace has a wonderful floral pattern which complements the gown’s design perfectly.

Detailed backs

Backs are going to be the main feature in 2014. Thanks to the vintage influences in 2013, 2014 is going to be packed with this subtle yet sexy feature. We are talking keyholes, jewelled embellishments, architectural pleating and lace fill-ins. A style which we simply adore is the Pure Bridal design ‘Bahama’. This gown has a show-stopping back which is essentially an open back, keyhole feature with pearl strands that drape beautifully from either edge of the key hole. This design features lace cap sleeves, which help to frame the back and add a sophisticated element.

Statement embellishments

If you are someone who relishes being in the lime light then 2014 is your year. 2014 is going to be full of statement embellishments, bling and lots of sparkle. This trend is also set to include three dimensional flowers, all-over embroidery and coloured accents. Catwalk shows from New York Bridal week to the British Bridal Exhibition in Harrogate highlighted the resurrection of big details, which over shadowed some of the more demure designs. A show-stopper from Opulence Bridal is ‘Panama’. It’s a simplistic chiffon design with sophisticated pleating but with the added knockout choker, this design is a real stand out. Crystals and pearls cluster together and cascade down the décolletage for a stunning effect. You really can’t miss this one.

Above the knee

Tea-length dresses have been reappearing throughout 2013 and in 2014, we are expecting to see a tea-length boom. These short designs are super cute and are a bit different than the traditional wedding dress. Different variations have been appearing from every designer but the one which has stuck out for us has been style PC3303 from Phil Collins Bridal. This adorable number has a pretty lace, bateau neckline and a gorgeous filled-in lace back. The lace has a unique floral pattern, edged with an eyelash finish. The tulle skirt keeps the design fresh and highlights the statement length. A real must-have if you’re planning a 50s-inspired day.
