Love the movies? Get inspired by some of the best honeymoon destinations straight from the big screen…

Magical Morocco

It’s exotic, it’s fun and it’s good value. Marrakesh is a truly fascinating city and a big part of the attraction is the legendary souk just off the huge Djemma El Fna square where you’ll find everything from orange juice stalls to snake charmers… but there’s also fabulously luxurious hotels, restaurants and cool bars to keep you busy.

What’s filmed here?

Alexander, Troy, Rendition, Gladiator, Blackhawk Down, The Bourne Ultimatum, The Mummy, Sahara, Kingdom of Heaven, Babel, Sex and the City 2

What shall we do?

Pop across the Atlas Mountains to Ouarzazate, known as the ‘gateway to the desert’ and home to the huge movie studios where most of the location shoots take place.

Where to stay?

To stay in style check into the beautiful Maison MK, a Brit-run riad (merchant house with interior courtyards) in the 1000 year-old medina, within the old city walls. It’s all about contemporary, cool interiors and very friendly service. At night, watch the sun set from the roof terrace armed with a glass of wine, or for something different try an in-house yoga lesson.

Just Jamaica

There’s an unmistakable Caribbean vibe in the air! Hit the beach, go swimming with dolphins or just browse through the higgledy-piggledy stalls at the Arts & Crafts market in Ocho Rios selling carved wooden goods, t-shirts and more.

What’s filmed there?

Dr No, Prelude to a Kiss, Blue Lagoon, Cocktail, Live and Let Die

What shall we do?

To see the sets, as well as the sights, hit Dunn’s River Falls, the famous waterfalls featured in Dr No and Cocktail, or stop by GoldenEye, Bond’s creator Ian Flemming’s hideaway. A little further along the coast, in Port Antonio, dip into Brooke Shield’s Blue Lagoon.

Where to stay?

Check into the Royal Plantation, a beautiful old fashioned plantation house for a taste of colonial luxury. Relax in the jacuzzi, book into the spa or laze in a hammock… A movie-makers favourite, the hotel counts many famous guests including Winston Churchill, Robin Williams, Alec Baldwin and Meg Ryan.

Alternatively find all-inclusive luxury at the art-deco style Tower Isle.

Classic Paris

Perhaps the most romantic of all honeymoon destinations, Paris is the city of romance! Explore the obvious, the Champs Elysées, the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame cathedral, and then go for the real gems like the exclusive boutiques in Place Vendôme, the famous Boulevard St Germain and coffee at the ‘Café de Flore’ where locals and tourists mingle.

What’s filmed there?

Da Vinci Code, Amelie, Before Sunset, The Devil Wears Prada

What shall we do?

Amelie Poulain fans should take a walking tour of the cobbled streets of Montmartre: from the ‘Café des Deux Moulins’ on rue de Lepic to the ‘Maison Collignon’, the famous ‘épicerie’ rue des Trois Frères.

Where to stay?

Treat yourself to a stay at l’Hotel in St Germain. The cosy, unassuming hotel is elegant, chic and has plenty of stories to tell. Oscar Wilde never checked out, while Johnny Depp calls it his Parisian home. Book yourself into the Mistinguett room with the legendary queen of cabaret’s very own Art Deco mirrored bed; or in the Oscar Wilde room, famous for its stunning peacock frescoes. As one of the top honeymoon destinations, it even has a gourmet restaurant and a hidden hammam spa!
