Its Halloween… and the most talked-about house between Arnhem and Nijimegen in the Netherlands nicknamed ‘The Haunted House’ and separated by a pond where two ‘white weird sisters ” floating on the lake keep the memory of mystery and ghost stories alive! Creepy right?!
Little would we expect, this historical horror to become the foundations for the most mysterious and thrilling Halloween bridal shoot showcasing striking details with a little more flare and a lot less scare than it’s location!
“Having recently been put on the market for sale and with the desire to bring to life a Halloween inspired shoot demonstrating beautiful yet mysterious themed details for an alternative wedding look – when we saw the pictures of the house, we knew it was the perfect opportunity to explore this eerie and striking location!”
“People speak of paranormal activities at the house, equipment not working correctly and when its quiet you can hear ghosts?! It was a scary and totally surreal experience , but when we saw the outcome of the shoot i knew it was totally worth it… we even made a video!”
Photographer, Marije van der Leeuw from Madame Poppy was able to create alot of illuson shots with various techniques to acheive a ghostly quality from the models, without using editing programmes post shoot.
Aswell as being such a thrill to create, we were able to capture some stunningly styled detail shots that are perfect inspiration for the alternative bride wanting to reflect a Halloween edged wedding in the decor. We wanted to express not only the mystery within the house, but equally the beauty of it. The muted palette of colours paired with the lustrous red lace and renaissance style table settings were the star of the show.
Marije used the filtering light and chocolate box windows to create the impact upon the models which inspired the drama of the theme too to be sophisticated.
