We’ve put together some of our favourite group shots from our real weddings to give you and your husband to be, plus your bridesmaid and ushers, some inspiration when it comes to your own wedding photography on your special day…
Here come the girls
Own your photoshoot opportunity! You and your girls are looking gorgeous, so be confident and don’t be afraid of the camera. A striding photo like this is natural and fun, and shows off how good you’re feeling and looking! Get your bridal party to find their inspiration for your wedding photography by looking at their friends very best photos!
Here come the boys
It’s not all about the girls of course. Get your groom and his ushers to replicate this kind of shot. It’s not every day you’ll catch them looking this dapper all together after all!
Make the most of what you’ve got
Is your venue on a farm? Or does it have its own pool? Make the most of the venue and the surroundings! Your wedding photographs are the best souvenirs of the day, so make sure you capture the whole day – venue included. After all, you probably spent a long time picking it out!
Signs
Sometimes pictures just don’t say it all, so spell it out with some fun signs. This is also such a good idea when it comes to thank-you cards – a picture of the bride and groom on their big day is a great way to thank the guests for coming.
Spiral stairs
This is a traditional idea for a wedding photograph, but never fails to impress. Use it as inspiration for a chance to be in shot, without the awkward height problems of people being barely visible at the back.
Jumping
The less traditional and taking a considerable amount of energy: the jumping group shot. We recommend to ditch the heels for this photo, as well as the vision of remaining dignified when it comes to both facial expressions and outfit modesty!
Unconventional choice
If you’re not going for the traditional and not into taking the photographs too seriously, you might be short of ideas to replace the smooching shots. Why not switch things up a bit with some role reversal? It’s sure to make your friends and family smile when they look back at your wedding album!
Colour contrast
Finding a backdrop that complements or contrasts with your bridal party’s outfits makes for a great photo. A co-ordinating colour pop never fails to make an image beautiful!
Back to front
You know we love wedding dresses, so why not have a photo of the back of your gorgeous bridal gown? It’s the part of the dress that can be forgotten about when it comes to photos, but never forgotten about when it comes to designing it.
Selfie shot
What would a wedding, or any celebration be, without a selfie shot? Get your bridesmaids, groom and his best men in on it for a full bridal party selfie, and reel in the Facebook likes.
All natural
Obviously you’re going to have your fair share of posed photos from your wedding day – both from the photographer, and from friends wanting a pretty picture with the brides to put on their Instagram. Ask your photographer to get some natural, mid-action ones in too. They’re equally as beautiful, and show the smile you have on all day is genuine and not just for the flashing camera!
Hands in the air
A celebratory ‘we finally did it!’ shot is always a good one. Whether it’s with your new hubby or your best girls, get those hands in the air and just have fun with it!
A personal touch
Do something a little different to the standard by making sure some of your wedding photos reflect you and your groom! Add a personal touch with either with poses, props, signs, or just a natural shot for a great souvenir from your happy day.
