“Christmas weddings are always special to photograph, the quickly vanishing light followed by warmth and cosiness indoors. The winter bridal look is dramatic, which I wanted to be reflected in the photographs, as well as bringing a personality and warmth to signify the realness of the event rather than just a styled look. I also wanted to show that the light, airy feel to wedding photography can be created in winter, a question I always get asked by my clients who plan their wedding during the darkest months.”
Stylist Charlotte Munro says…
“Christmas weddings are becoming ever more popular and I wanted to create a shoot to inspire brides and show that you can have a winter wedding that is full of warmth and light, even in the darkest months. For the styling, I wanted to create a look that was simple and traditional with a main focus on beautiful details and Christmas colours. Our wonderful team on board for this shoot all worked together to achieve a truly fun, Christmas feel which I think brides will love.”
Make-up artist Joyce Connor from Brides & Beauty says…
“I chose this make-up look to carry through the strong reds in the rest of the wedding theme. Berry lips look great for winter weddings and it’s a colour that any skin tone can wear. Strong lip colours look great with dark eye shadow colours if you have darker hair too. Brides can also choose a lighter or sheer shade of red with this smokey eye look as well.”
Hairstylist Amanda White says…
“This shoot was all about elegance for me. I had in mind some of the ‘greats’ through history – think Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn but with a modern twist. I wanted the front to have some height and to look super smooth and shiny. To get a smooth finish, I ran some Toni and Guy serum through the hair before using heated rollers, then gently brushed it out using a Denman bristle brush. I added pin curls to the side and back for that vintage glamour which I feel worked well alongside Joyce’s make-up and Charlotte’s dress. Adding a little detail in the hair with a clip or accessory can set a hairstyle off beautifully, especially in this festive season!”
