A couple of years ago we brought you the exciting news that couples could tie the knot at London’s famous Fortnum & Mason department store, which was surely welcome news to lovers of luxury hoping to secure an unique wedding venue in the heart of London. Well, you can call us the wedding gift that keeps on giving as we’ve heard through the grapevine Selfridges, another iconic department store in the capital, will be hosting weddings this summer.

Couples on the hunt for a chic city wedding venue can rejoice, as you can now get married at Selfridges’ flagship store on Oxford Street. The London department store has acquired a license to host weddings and will be offering a series of ‘wedding packages’.

Following reports that 220,000 weddings were unable to take place in 2020 and a further 100,000 have had be cancelled in the first half of 2021, there’s a backlog of weddings and bookings to contend with, with some venues unable to cater the rush of future bookings. This has called for new venues to and prompted other business and to obtain special licenses to hold weddings.
