The proposal

Jonathon proposed to Lucy against the romantic backdrop of Winchester Cathedral at Christmas time. “We were skating on the outdoor ice rink, and as our session was coming to an end, Jon got down on one knee on the ice, in front of all the skaters,” smiles Lucy. “He then took me to a local French restaurant, where he had my favourite table and chilled champagne waiting!”

The bride’s outfit

Lucy knew she had found ‘the one’ when she tried on the ‘Bermeo’ gown by Pronovias. “I had tried quite a few Pronovias dresses, and had the feeling I was getting close to perfection,” Lucy explains. “Then I spotted ‘Bermeo’ online, and knew I had to try it on. It felt like it was made for me – I was ready to walk down the aisle there and then!” The exquisite lace gown featured a sweetheart bodice, a jewelled waistband and an A-line skirt with an extensive train.

The groom’s outfit

Jonathan chose a chic, navy morning suit with a tailcoat, ivory waistcoat and cravat, while his groomsmen wore the same style but with pink waistcoats and cravats. “He looked so smart and handsome, it was difficult not to cry,” Lucy recalls.

The ceremony

Lucy and Jonathan were married in a civil ceremony, with the bride making her entrance on her father’s arm. “As we walked into the room, I saw all our guests turn to look at me, and then saw Jon standing at the head of the room,” Lucy says. “I felt such a weird and wonderful mixture of emotions – there is nothing else in the world like it.”

The reception

Lucy chose a delicate pink, ivory and gold colour scheme for her wedding reception, and decorated with miniature gold birdcages, pale pink tea lights, cream and gold candelabra and ivory tissue paper pom poms. “I didn’t want to get too preoccupied with a set theme, and just chose things that I thought were elegant and beautiful,” Lucy explains. The floral arrangements were put together by White Lilac, and the stunning wedding cake was the creation of Lilibean Bakery, who dressed it lavishly with fresh blooms.

The honeymoon

Lucy and Jonathan honeymooned on the isle of Kuramathi in the Maldives. “I’m lucky enough to have been twice before, and was desperate for Jon to experience its tranquil beauty,” Lucy says.
