The wedding took place just seven months after Muamba collapsed when his heart stopped beating during a match, leaving him technically ‘dead’ for 78 minutes. Fabrice, 24, and Shauna, 27, married in front of an A-list guest list, including footballers Robin Van Persie, Andy Cole and ex-Bolton teammates Stuart Holden and Martin Petrov.

Manchester United striker, Robin Van Persie, who attended the wedding with his wife Bouchra, told HELLO! magazine: “Today is particularly special because of what happened to Fabrice. The cardiac arrest had a big impact on everyone in football.”

“Everyone is so relieved and happy for him and Shauna, and Bouchra and I are grateful to be part of this day.”
