We’re in love with this bride’s beautiful gown – the perfect fit for her country wedding’s romantic French theme!
Elizabeth and Kevin’s engagement was a fairytale in New York. “I had always wanted to go round Central Park in the snow and to the Plaza hotel,” Elizabeth explains. “We went around the park by horse and carriage, and then to the Plaza, where Kevin proposed with the most beautiful Tiffany ring. We topped the weekend off with ice skating under the giant Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Center followed by a celebratory night on the town.”
The bride’s outfit
Elizabeth’s mum helped her daughter decide on her exquisite Mira Zwillinger dress, with beaded lace and bow detailing. “I thought I wanted a big dress, but when my mum pointed it out to me, I loved it,” says Elizabeth. “It was so pretty, and different from everything else I had seen.” She accessorised her look with a jewelled headband from Jenny Packham, and sparkly silver Jimmy Choo heels – a gift from her father.
The groom’s outfit
Kevin chose a classic morning suit with black jacket and grey trousers, with a bespoke silver waistcoat embroidered with butterflies from Favourbrook. He added a peach tie and pocket square to pick up the tones in Elizabeth’s gown. “He looked even more handsome than I had ever imagined,” Elizabeth smiles.
Chief bridesmaid Tertia – Elizabeth’s younger sister – wore an elegant white gown with a handmade headpiece by Delores Petunia. The six other bridesmaids all wore stunning mix and match silver-coloured dresses from Alfred Sung at Dessy. “I wanted them all to have the same colour and fabric, but to choose their own style of dress,” explains Elizabeth.
Elizabeth and Kevin were married in a civil ceremony in the beautiful drawing room at The Lake Country House & Spa. The marriage ceremony featured readings of Love’s Philosophy by Shelley and The Rose from Le Petit Prince. “Walking down the aisle with my dad to Pachelbel’s Canon in D, played by a brilliant string quartet, made me all teary with emotion,” Elizabeth recalls.
Elizabeth and Kevin decided on a French romantic theme for their big day, with soft pastel shades, candelabra adorned with flowers and pearls and bunches of lavender decorating the chairs. The wedding breakfast featured smoked salmon pave, followed by Welsh black beef and finally strawberry parfait with lime sorbet.
Elizabeth and Kevin spent three adventurous weeks touring Miami and Mexico.
