Wishing you could escape the unpredictable British weather and exchange your vows in the sun? If you want long-haul love, Jamaica experts Couples Resorts are one of the most-trusted companies around. We caught up with Jane from the team to answer your common destination questions…
What are your most popular locations for a wedding abroad?
Each of the four Couples Resorts has a selection of stunning wedding gazebos, both in the oceanfront and in the tropical gardens, and there is always the option of the powder white sand beneath your toes and the turquoise of the ocean as your backdrop. The choice is entirely yours and regardless of where you chose, you can have some wonderful photographs taken all around the resort. We do find that the majority of couples choose the beach as the location for their ceremony, simply because they want the full ‘beach wedding abroad’ experience.
How long do we have to be in Jamaica before we get married?
Couples are required to be at the resort at least three working days in advance of the wedding ceremony in order to finalise all of the wedding arrangements and apply for a marriage licence. This also gives you time to change your mind about any little details, and tweak things at the last minute so they are exactly as you want them to be.
How can we plan the wedding properly from the UK? Will you help us? What’s the process?
Every little detail can be planned prior to departure. Our specialist wedding consultants in the UK can assist you with planning every part of the day. If you have never been to Jamaica, we can help you find the perfect tropical flowers for your bouquet, help you design a signature Jamaican Rum Punch cocktail for your welcome drinks and much more.
Just because you are having a destination wedding, that doesn’t mean you miss out on any of the details. All the same exciting decisions will be made, the only difference is that your personal planning will be here to assist you. Whether you want a day for just you and your fiancé or a celebration that incorporates all your friends and family, we can make it happen.
What is there for my guests to do before and after the wedding?
Weddings take place either 10am, 11am, 2pm, 4pm or at sunset. If you’ve planned an afternoon wedding, the groom and his friends may wish to spend the morning on the gold course! Or perhaps spend a few hours banishing pre-wedding stress with a spot of scuba diving?
The ladies can enjoy a trip to our award-winning spas although a morning of enhancing a natural tan on the beach with delightful cocktails or mockatils could also be the order of the day!
With a host of exciting activities included in our premium all-inclusive packages including waterskiing, windsurfing, tennis and much more, there is always something at Couples Resorts to keep you as active as you like. Or of course, you could just chill by the pool or relax on the beach, and dream about the beautiful day that’s about to unfold.
What do real-life couples say about Couples Resorts?
We got married on the beach and I wouldn’t change a thing! It was fabulous! I was starring so deeply into my husband’s baby blues that I didn’t hear anything around us other than the minister and Jeff. We have fabulous pictures from the ceremony from friends, as well as the in-house photographer.

I would like to thank you for all your help in organisation my trip and wedding at Couples Swept Away. It was absolutely fantastic and the staff (Priscilla, the wedding co-ordinator) and (Cecil, the photographer) did such a fantastic job and I could not ask for more. It was a fantastic resort, food, staff, drinks, accommodation, facilities were fantastic and could not ask for more. Wedding was so beautiful on the beach.
We have just returned from Couples Negril and I would like to say it was the most amazing holiday we have ever had. We got married on the beach and the staff and the food in the hotel were fantastic. Once again thank you for a wonderful wedding and holiday.
