The Dress

In 2005 the third Mrs Trump was confirmed by nothing less than one of the most extravagant celebrity weddings ever. Little did Melania Knauss Trump know that her zillionaire newly-wed, Donald Trump would become one of the most talked about and controversial leaders in American history and the 45th President of the United States as of this morning.

Estimated at $100,000 – $200,000, Melania’s custom John Galliano for Christian Dior dress saw her jump straight onto the front of Vogue with a 14-page wedding story pictured further inside. Encrusted with over 1,500 rhinestone and pearls the size and weight of the dress was so overwhelming Melania’s was advised to eat well in the lead up to the big day in order for her to be able to bear the weight. For the evening’s celebrations Melania changed into a body-hugging Vera Wang silk tulle Grecian dress slit up to the knee.

The new Mrs. Trump wanted an elegant cream and classic white wedding scheme and requested “very romantic, traditional flowers: roses, hydrangeas, vernaculars, some orchids.”

The Cake

Whilst Melania decided against the traditional bouquet, the presence of flowers was by no means limited with their bespoke designed seven-tier wedding cake featuring 2,000 individual sugar spun flowers covering the cake from top to bottom!

The Trump’s settled on a gold and white finished classic yellow sponge cake flavoured with orange zest and soaked in Grand Marnier.

“I don’t think anyone has done anything like this before,” Barberet recalls telling the bride.
